Teen Age Computer Sales Force in Box Stores Can Be Problematic

Author: Lance Winslow

If you are a sales person who sells computers and electronics in a large retail box store then you need to understand that not all the customers coming into the store are interested in how well the DVD video works on the computer.

Many people who are buying computers for their small business or for work are not necessarily concerned with the same things that teenagers are and all the new electronic gadgets, which help with the sound and quality when listening to music.

For those young people who work at computer sales departments of large box stores, you need to remember that some people work for a living and are no longer going to school. They are interested in word processing programs, operating systems, hard drive space and the speed and quality of the components.

Failure to educate the potential customer and computer buyer on these attributes of the computer may result in a failure to sell that computer to the individual and therefore they will go to another box store and shop a particular ad and not come back.

In this case you just lost a sale. It is important to put yourself into the other person's perspective even though you are working in your first job and you do not understand business. I would suggest that you stop talking and start listening to what the customer is looking for. Please consider this in 2006.
